Authors : Rania R. Ali*, kadrya H. Battecha *, Waleed T. Mansour**
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is one of the most common entrapment neuropathies in the upper limb, causing sensory and motor disturbances in the hand. Objectives: This study has been done to investigate the effect of kinesio tape on altering pain level in patient with CTS. Methods: Sixty CTS patients (43 females and 17 males) with the mean age of (40.2) years were assigned randomly into two equal groups. Group A received traditional physical therapy program (strengthening and stretching exercises for wrist muscles and ligaments) with kinesio tape for 4 weeks, Group B received traditional treatment as group A only. Visual analogue scale, MSDL, MMDL, MMCV and MSCV by electromyography were measured pre and post treatment. Results: The results of the study showed that there was significant decrease in pain level, MSDL and MMDL in group A. conclusion: This study showed the feasibility, safety and cheapness of the kinesio tape as treating tool in CTS patients.

Primary spinal primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNET) and/or spinal extraskeletal Ewing's sarcoma family tumors (ESET) are rare lesions appearing in the spinal extradural space. One hundred forty-one primary spinal PNETs, including 29 intramedullary lesions, have been reported in the literature

Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for nephrolithiasis in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease(ADPKD).Methods: From January 2000 to December 2012, a total of 23 patients were diagnosed as ADPKD with nephrolithiasis, including four bilateral renal calculus. All patients received ultrasound-guided PCNL procedure due to the diameter of stones > 2cm. Therefore, 27 ultrasound-guided PCNL procedures were performed. The success rate of operation, intraoperative and postoperative complications, and other indexes were recorded. Results: The pelvicaliceal system was successfully approached and the PCNL procedures were completed in all cases. No patients died. The stone-free rate of PCNL procedures was 88.9%(24/27 procedures). Drawing assistance of SWL, the total stone-free rate approached 96.3%(26/27 procedures). After 2 postoperative months, all patients showed various degree of decrease of serum creatinine. No patient experienced serious intraoperative and postoperative complications except for postoperative transient fever in 4 patients. Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided PCNL was a safe and effective method for the treatment of nephrolithiasis in patients with ADPKD, which may replace fluoroscopic guidance to protect the patients and doctors from radiation hazards.
Title : Another Hormone Produced in the Kidney: Gonadopoietin
Author : Yao Mu XinzhiMu
Objective: observation based clinical literature to investigate the level of sex hormone and sexual dysfunction in patients with uremia, manifestation and associated factors. Methods: comprehensive evaluation on from a large number of published data, a cross-section study was conducted by documents retrieval. As opposed sex hormone of health cases contrast to uremia, patients with uremia before and after hemodialysis, patients underwent renal transplantation and sexual function change in normal volunteer after drinking fresh urine. Results: The levels of sexual hormone in patients with uremia are significantly lower than those in normal controls, there is no significant alteration of the sexual hormone secretion before and after hemodialysis in patients with uremia, the sexual hormone of patients underwent renal transplantation is higher than that in normal and increased International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5) after normal person drinking fresh urine. Conclusions: another hormone secreted by kidneys, we are calling this hormone “gonadopoietin” for want of a better name.

Accurate sex prediction of human remains enables a more focused search of missing person’s files. The frontal sinus radiographs is useful in sex assessment of the bodies remain only with skull. The frontal sinuses are absent at birth, but are generally fairly well developed between the seventh and eighth years, only reaching their full size after puberty, that’s why in our study mean age of subject were 21 year of age . A total of 40 frontal sinus view radiographs of 20 males and females each were evaluated for potential differences in frontal sinus configuration including height and width of frontal sinus. Data were assessed through Students-T test. A highly significant difference was observed in both width and height of frontal sinus between males and females. The results here in suggest that frontal sinuses can be used as one of the aids for prediction of sex.
